Meme's Mornings
Tuesday, 25 November 2008
Good Morning! What a beautiful day. I love to breathe in that crisp, cool early morning air. This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 I have so much to be thankful for this tuesday morning. I thank Our Heavenly Father for His love and mercy. For sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins and rise up to save us for eternity with Him. What Glorious promises we are given in God's Holy Word. Total forgiveness, love, mercy and grace are ours for believing and asking Jesus to come into our hearts. I have been forgiven much. I have been given much. Today I want to say how thankful I am to have a Bible and the freedom to read it. But even more this website has someone to read the Bible to me. http://www.listenersbible.com/ http://www.biblegateway.com/ We have no excuse for not reading or hearing the Word of God daily. It is available in our homes, on our computers, if we just spent a small portion of the time we spend on other books or entertainment, what a huge difference we would find in our family life. I have seen the eagerness of children to learn Scriptures in their Bible Drills. Oh to capture that eagerness and retain it on through our adult life. I think that would be one of the most important pieces of advice I could offer. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 Thy Word, Oh Lord, is a lamp to guide me, To keep me from going astray. Thy Word lights my path through the darkness, Making night appear bright as the day. Temptations may entice me to wander, I might be encouraged to roam. Thy Word, Oh Lord, is a beacon Lovingly guiding me home.

 1. How come when you go from here to there you are still here and not there?
2. A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition!
3. A grateful mind is a great mind.
4. A grouch spreads good will wherever he does not go!
5. A HUG: THE IDEAL GIFT! ONE SIZE FITS ALL!
6. A peaceful heart finds joy in all of life's simple pleasures.
7. A smile is a light in the window of your soul.
8. Being in the valley gives you the best view of the mountain.
9. Carve your stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
10. Do all things without murmurings and disputings. Phil 2:14
11. He who laughs, lasts!
12. Holding a grudge is letting someone live rent free in your head.
13. If you growl all day, you'll be dog tired all night.
14. It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
15. Sunny spirits make even the darkest skies shine.
16. When you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
17. When you have pains, you don't have to be one.
God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain, but he did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. ...one day two mice fell into a deep cream bowl. One was an optimistic soul. But the other took the gloomy view.
"We're going to drown," he lamented without much ado, and with a last despairing cry, he flung up his legs and said "Goodbye."
"I can't get out but I won't give in, I'll just swim around till my strength is spent, then I'll die the more content," Quoted the other mouse with a steadfast grin.
Bravely he swam to work his scheme, and his struggles began to churn the cream. The more he swam, his legs a flutter, the more the cream turned into butter.
On top of the butter at last he stopped, and out of the bowl he gaily hopped. This story reminds me of a wonderful book which helped me deal with depression, disappointment, loneliness, and more. It reminds you that you can use the bumps in your rocky path to climb on. Just reach up to Jesus' outstretched, scarred hand and He will guide you through the rough and rocky times. But don't let go because you need Him to hold on and guide you through the good times as well.
The Bumps Are What You Climb On by Warren W. Wiersbe James 1:2-3 2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

In the 1400's a law was set forth that a man was not allowed to beat his wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. Hence we have "the rule of thumb". Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled "Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden"...and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language. The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV was Fred and Wilma Flintstone. Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the US Treasury. Men can read smaller print than women can; women can hear better. Coca-Cola was originally green. It is impossible to lick your elbow. The average number of people airborne over the US any given hour: 61,000 Intelligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair. The first novel ever written on a typewriter: Tom Sawyer. Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king in history: Spades - King David Hearts - Charlemagne Clubs -Alexander, the Great Diamonds - Julius Caesar 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321 If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes. Q. If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter "A"? A. One thousand Q. What do bullet-proof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers all have in common? A. All invented by women. Q. What is the only food that doesn't spoil? A. Honey In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. When you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase "goodnight, sleep tight." It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon. In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them "Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down." It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's" Many years ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired by this practice.

Mother Teresa on abortion.
“But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion. ” Mother Teresa

Ways to Reduce Stress 1. Pray 2. Go to bed on time. 3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed. 4. Say No to projects that won’t fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health. 5. Delegate tasks to capable others. 6. Simplify and unclutter your life. 7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.) 8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places. 9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don’t lump the hard things all together. 10. Take one day at a time. 11. Separate worries from concerns .. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can’t do anything about a situation, forget it. 12. Live within your budget; don’t use credit cards for ordinary purchases. 13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc. 14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble. 15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday. 16. Every night before bed, think of one thing you’re grateful for that you’ve never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU. 17. Get enough rest. 18. Eat right. 19 Get organized so everything has its place. 20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life. 21. Write down thoughts and inspirations. 22. Every day, find time to be alone. 23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don’t wait until it’s time to go to bed to try and pray. 24. Make friends with Godly people. 25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand. 26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good ‘Thank you God.’ 27. Laugh. 28. Laugh some more! 29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all. 30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can). 31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most). 32. Sit on your ego. 33 Talk less; listen more. 34. Slow down. 35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe. Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Fear Not
Are the circumstances surrounding your life drowning you, or are you allowing them to help you develop a better relationship with Jesus?
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Luke 12:32, II Corinthians 4:17-18
